Hosanna, Ethiopia Medical Outreach Comes to a Close

September 19, 2016

Outreach partners are back at home now after our Hosanna, Ethiopia medical outreach. They’re back at their jobs and into the regular routines of their Western lives. But from experience, we know that scenes and faces from Hosanna remain etched in their minds, and the impact of their time spent helping thousands lingers in their hearts as they resume normal life. Such a ministry experience as this stays with you forever, and the memories bless you over and over again long after you’ve returned.

Here are a few more glimpses into the incredible ministry week enjoyed by the Hosanna outreach partners.

Morning worship at the clinic site

Each morning before the work day begins, the team and local hired workers gather to worship, pray, and relay information about the coming day.

This panoramic photo shows the worship tent and several areas of the clinic. From left to right starting in the middle of the photo outside the worship tent are the water education tents/LifeStraws® and the pharmacy waiting room tent. The far right building housed the pharmacy, admin, dental sterilization, OBGYN, and eyeglasses department.

Bob Aiken, our photographer for the outreach, wrote:  “I went outside the gate to get pictures of the water conditions, and the kids came running.  It was fun, but to see the water conditions and hunger that these kids have to endure is overwhelming. It's great to see the Lord’s light shine in a dark place, and I am glad that I am allowed to be a part of His work.  Ephesians 2:10 –“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”

“With the water conditions I see outside the gates to the clinic, I rejoice to see the LifeStraws® in the hands of the local people that we are blessed to serve.”

On Thursday of the clinic week, Bob went along on a trip to the hospital for a double cataract surgery on a little three-year-old girl. As they drove out, the line for the clinic was more than a quarter of a mile long.
